Changes in league scheduling by midget hockey associations across Western Canada have prevented several teams from attending the tourney next year, including six from the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. The B. The challenge of finding enough quality teams to replace those lost was simply too much to overcome for the tournament committee. In its year existence, the annual five-day tournament has brought together teams from across Canada and the U. The tournament has served as a valuable scouting tool for major junior, junior A and junior B teams, as well as college and university programs. As for the status of the tournament in and beyond, the organizing committee will weigh its options on a year-to-year basis.

The Kitchener Ice Pirates is a special needs hockey program, providing children and adults with developmental disabilities from across Waterloo Region the opportunity to particiapte in a hockey program that is tailored to their specific needs. Our participant's abilities range from new non-skaters to those on their way to becoming great hockey players. Players on the Ice Pirates gain a sense of fairplay friendship, and an amazing sense of accomplishment as they improve their hockey skills. As part of this unique team they improve their fine and gross motor skills as well as their understanding of acceptable social behaviour.
